Description

Connie has recently moved to Southfork for her husband’s job. Her parents do not seem like they would be supportive of her seeking medical attention for her mental health so I would not encourage her to speak with them about this. She does not have a local support system and that is something that I would encourage her to acquire through joining local groups. I would diagnose Connie with 296.89 (F31.81 ) Bipolar 2 current episode depressed, moderate severity, with péripartum onset. Some of her symptoms for a major depressive episode are depressed mood most of the day, markedly diminished interest or pleasure in activities, hypersomnia, fatigue, feelings of worthlessness, and recurrent thoughts of death. Some of her symptoms of hypomanic episodes are a distinct period of abnormally and persistently elevated mood, more talkative than usual, a flight of ideas, and decreased need for sleep.
