Brac University Overview: Background: Brac University is a private research university which is also known as BracU. Brac University (BracU) established in 2001 is located in Dhaka Bangladesh. BracU follows a liberal arts approach to education which nurtures fresh ideas and gives new impetus to the field of tertiary education. It ensures a high quality of education and aims to meet the demands of contemporary times. Brac University secured its place at the top of the rankings with a dominating performance in the Factual indicators category, scoring 80.3 out of 100. The next best performer in this category was Independent University, Bangladesh with a score of 62.84. IUB came third in the overall rankings. Brac University believes in a holistic approach towards education and grooming future leaders who will possess high moral values, have empathy, more informed, scientific, and socially responsible alongside their academic excellence. Brac University has established 27 clubs to nurture the students to be future leaders in alignment with the vision of the institution.

History: Sir Fazle Hasan Abed founded Brac University in 2001, under the Private University Act.[3] Located at 66 Mohakhali, Dhaka, the university is based on the American liberal arts college model. Brac University began with three departments and around 80 students in 2001.[4] It held its first Convocation in January 2006. Initially, it offered a limited number of bachelor's degrees.[5] As the university grew, it increased the number of programs and introduced master's degrees.[6] The development of a library with high academic standards was important to Sir Abed. The Ayesha Abed Library was digitized shortly after its inception.[7] The university had 11,200 students in 20 schools, departments, and institutes in 2020. The construction of a new campus will be completed in January 2023.

The entire admission process will be online and applicants can apply from the convenience of their home. The entire process of admission goes through an intensely selective method where applicants are asked to follow each phase precisely within the given framework of instructions. To get admitted into BracU, applicants must qualify in the admission test (written and an interview) after submitting their online application form. For the international applicants there have information box to fill it out also Brac University personifies a broad portrayal of states and cultures from all over the world in a single platform. International Students are given special attention and care to make the foreign students feel at home. Academic Standards Keeping with its mission and goals, the University strives to ensure high academic standards by implementing well-designed curricula, carefully selecting high quality students and faculty, utilizing modern and effective instructional methods and aids and by continuous monitoring and rigorous evaluation of all the pertinent activities and systems. Semesters There are three equal semesters-Spring, Fall, and Summer. The duration of each semester is 13 working weeks. An additional week for each semester is allocated for final exams. Usually the Spring semester commences in January, the Summer semester in May and the Fall semester commences in September. The Semester Calendar provides deadlines for registration add/drop courses, withdrawals etc. This has financial and academic implications. For freshman (1st Semester): 1. A freshman is required to take maximum of three (3) courses, whether these are credit or non-credit. 2. If a freshman is prescribed two (02) non-credit courses, the third course for him/her is optional. Following are the requirements for graduation in an undergraduate program:

A minimum of 120 credits for a bachelor's degree out of which at least 70 must be earned at Brac University. For students of Architecture Department at least 134 credits must be earned at Brac University. Attending Residential semester is compulsory for all BracU students. Students must complete all course requirements for the degree including General education courses, non-major area courses, major area courses, elective courses, courses for double major or minor.

SWOT Analysis: Strength: Brand name: BRAC is well-known bran in our country. BRAC University has got the advantage of existing brand image of BRAC. Capital: establishing a university requires huge capital for its infrastructure development. One of the strength of BRAC University is that it has enough capital. Own campus: BRAC University started its operation whit its own campus. Very few universities were able to do it. Weakness: Small campus: existing campus of Brac University is not enough for running its Operation University campus should not confine with a multistoried building. Limited number of subject: Brac University is currently offering few subjects. Limited permanent faculty: Number of permanent faculty is limited. Opportunities: Limited seat in Public University: Public universities fail to absorb all students who are eager for higher education. This situation has created an opportunity for leading private university like BRAC University. Session jot in Public University: the students of public University are suffering from session jot. On the other hand Brac University has been following stick academic calendar from its inception. Income level: thought Brac University has a provision for poor fund for meritorious students the main target group is middle or higher middle class group. There is a good

number of middle or higher middle class families in Dhaka city and this group is growing fast. Threats: Threats from public universities: It is true that private universities have grown up because of some limitation in public universities. If public universities increase the student's capacity, reduce session jot, remove student politic then it will really create problem fro Brac University. Threats created by poor performing universities: there are some universities, which are performing really poorly. So this type of universities has created a bad impression on private universities.
