Govardan Suresh Babu WRDS 150 912 20573945 The undying ideologies of race and gender: the zombie apocalypse in Telltale’s the Walking Dead: Season One By Brooke Bennett The article is about a portrayal of a zombie apocalypse in the form of action-packed game. All though the game pushes back against various racial stereotypes its interesting to focus on how it eventually affects the outcome of the game for the gamer (Bennett 637). In each episodes of the game, players must face a potential moral decision. Based on this the situations of the game changes which eventually leads to the outcome in favour of the options chosen. The author runs through ideas of racial stereotypes such as depicting black men as either athletic, highly masculine or aggressive (Bennett 639). Interestingly the article also reflects that the gamers may go through aggressive, mind disturbing and detrimental behavioural changes. However, the article shows us various interpretations of texts allowing us to analyze these texts from a more holistic standpoint, rather than just labeling a fact as just “good” or “bad” (Bennett 641). The game also expresses personal emotional connection between characters of the game like hatred, love, greed and many more. This significantly leads to situations where sometimes turn to chaos wherein one out of two survives in the game. Therefore, the game is largely based on politics surviving on terms of gender, race and ideologies of the characters of the game and the players. The zombie apocalypse serves as a ground to exploit all these notions....
