“Budy Bolden Blue’s” and Day Tripper” Music Comparison

Buddy Bolden’s Blues was performed by Wynton Marsalis and accompanied by eleven other instrumentalists live at Dizzy's Club. In this context, this music piece is compared Paul McCartney’s “Day Tripper”. The Budy Bolden’s Blues is loud, bubbly and full of jazz inspired sound. It reminds me of a New Orleans type of jazz. For the most part, the two trumpet players, Wynton Marsalis and John Erik Keliso, are the most powerful instruments in the room. They play a long, pleasant but exciting melody that would put anyone in the happiest of moods. Around the sixth minute of their performance, the saxophone player, Victor Goines, takes over with a sound with such an even, variable and smooth rhythm that you cannot concentrate on anything else. The dynamics of Wynton's piece is soft halfway and as it advances, it changes to the opposite. This piece is swinging and exciting and full of jazz life. Paul McCartney’s Day Tripper is a fast paced, just as loud and exciting performance with harmonic rhythm, amazing guitar riff, and subtle textures in scoring and surprisingly instrumental, even orchestral. The lead instrument in this song is the drums, though, this song has more of a blue’s feel to it than jazz. Though together, Buddy Bolden’s Blues by Wynton Marsalis and Day Tripper have a similar texture composition and the pitches are both relatively high. We see very clearly how the different artists are fused tightly with the instruments, even if one is a trumpet and the other the drums. The first similarity I noticed was the playing forces of the items. Buddy Bolden Blues denotes them through the instruments played, whereas in Day Tripper, the forces are discovered by the performers' vocal powers. Furthermore, the melody created by similar tools within the

pieces sounds the same. The tools in each piece embrace piano, guitar, and drums. Harmony in both parts appears due to listeners gaining the appealing satisfaction that music ought to present. Both songs take different directions where in Marsalis's music instruments are used to portray rhythm while in McCartney's piece, members engage by singing, which attracts the listeners' attention. On dynamics, Wynton Marsalis uses half-soft dynamic which then becomes jazz music when the rest of the band members join in. This is contrary to the music by Paul McCartney, where his composition is loud all through, making many think it is rock music. McCartney's music has a more massive crowd following because it entertains and passes a message compared to Marsalis that only entertains. The two music compositions serve a great purpose as they help one understand different music elements applied differently and their impact on music....
