Business report on Topshop and their current state in the fashion industry....

Description

Business Report Topshop The internet is fast becoming the destination of choice for shoppers and heaping pressure on traditional retailers who are struggling to keep up with their online-only rivals. Sales growth at online only fashion seller BooHoo is expected to total nearly 40% in the four months to the end of December. This shows how high street retailers have needed to adapt their ways of marketing to not fall behind and lose their market share percentage to online retailers. Topshop is a British multinational fashion retailer of clothing, shoes, make-up and accessories. Topshop started as a brand extension of the department store Peter Robinson in the 1960s. Topshop was then founded in 1964, this was high fashion for the “young and different generation”. It has around 500 shops worldwide, which around 300 are in the UK – plus online operations in a number of its market. Do they do B2B, B2C or C2C ? Business- to-business refers to a situation where one business makes a commercial transaction with another. This typically occurs when a business is sourcing materials for their production process. Topshop will most likely use B2B to collect the materials they need to create their products. Business-to-consumer is business or transactions conducted directly between a company and consumers who are the end-users of its products or services. Topshop does B2C when selling their items to the customers in both the physical and online stores. How do they use enterprise resource (ERP) planning ERP is a business process management software that allows an organisation to use a system of integrated applications to manage the business and automate many back office functions related to technology, services and human resources. Topshop went through a program to modernise its finance systems, the solution was expected to support international growth and “underpin an evolving business model for the iconic retailer”. Through their deployment of Infor Cloudsite Financials they anticipate significant time savings, reductions in errors and superior insights which they believe will give them greater agility. How could they use data mining and big data ? Data mining is the practise of examining large pre-existing databases in order to generate new information. Big data is extremely large data sets that may be analysed computationally to reveal patterns, trends and associations, especially relating to human behaviour and interactions. Topshop could use both data mining and big data to analyse the demographics of their audience to make sure they are aiming their products to the right people and allows them to keep up with new trends and potentially sell more products as they can target the right people correctly....
