1. Introduction 1.1 Background Kombolcha Institute of Technology or KIOT is an Ethiopian Higher Educational institute in Kombolcha, Ethiopia. The main campus is located in the Wollo University Dessie Campus area. KIOT gives the following colleagues and science fields 

And also in KIOT there are centers in which students develop their skills and talents. One of them is Techino club. Techino club was initiated in 2010 by KIOT students from different department who have the interest in technology. They are contributing in helping other students indulge themselves in the developing real life helper technologies that transform the life of KIOT community by making heavy works simpler by developing different software and hardware systems. Techino club is highly motivated to do for the change and progress of the university. For this reason the techino club leaders discussing with the students affairs decided to make a web based digital café system. The purpose of the café system is to reduce man power especially the ticker’s work, reduce the unnecessary cost of the foods, to avoid the consumption of foods by students who eat their meal more than once and reduce the paper works. In this café system, many features are included. First students registered will be included in the system, and then student information like gender, religion, department, name, academic year, health status, café status, picture and other details will be registered. Students who are registered as café will have the digital id. In general, this system is developed to make sure the flow of the café system to work effectively and easily.

1.2 Statement of the Problem There are many problems with existing system of digital cafe system since there is no software based system at Wollo University. The following are the major problems of existing system.  The effort: cafe students are managed manually and the value submitted by the instructor calculates by cafe Coordinator, so the effort used by the coordinator is very high.  It needs man power: to manage the student’s information, to give specific id for each student, to check the duplication of the student who came to use cafe, to do those things man power is highly needed.  It takes time: When all operation is done manually it takes time, the task may not be completed on time.  Boring to manage the students: when the student comes to cafe, the cafe coordinator searches the student specific id with cafe they come from during using time, it is boring to check each student’s specific id with his/her name and photo.  It’s difficult to identify a student easily.

1.3 Existing System Currently in Wollo University, KIOT campus cafeteria office follows manual approach. Students have their own café number. During meal time students tell their numbers and the ticker will tick the students present to eat. This manual system has many drawbacks. Some of them are: Students eat more than once by cheating.  The food amount needed is not known well therefore there will be extravagancy of food.  Now everything is done using paper which leads to extra wastage.  Students have to make a line to get in and cause the ticker has to find their meal number to tick if they are present.

1.4 Proposed System To overcome the problems that exist in the current mechanism of cafeteria system, the proposed system will add here the following function.

 Create efficient, effective, easy and accurate web based cafeteria system with a professional design and new application with latest approach.  Design interactive web application that can be managed easily to serve and support the current internal and external users of the café system.

1.5 Objective 1.5.1General Objective

The general objective of this project is to develop web based cafeteria system. 1.5.2 Specific Objective

To accomplish the general objective, we could be follow our specific objectives in order to success the system. Our specific objectives are  Collect requirements from the KIOT in order to startup the system,  Identifying the functional and non-functional requirements for a better understanding of what the system looks like.  Build the system design using the system models, to clarify what our internal and external system looks.  Implement the requirements into the system.  After implementation the system should be tested with different testing mechanisms.  Deploy the system as per the system requires.

1.6 Methodology 1.6.1

Data Collection Methodology

To collect the information, we use the requirement gathering system  Interview the cafe coordinator: by preparing the question and ask the question to the cafe Coordinator he give us the full information clearly. During interview we use  Taking note  Observation: since we are student we observe the way of managing the student, so we document some idea by observation.

 Document analysis: Browse some information about the background of cafe system in Ethiopia university especially in the Kombolcha Institute of Technology KIOT and Dessie campus. 1.6.2

System Design and Analysis Tools

MS Word: We select MS Word because of it is simple to use and the resource is in our hand and MS Word can easily add delete move bullet, table, picture. And it helps us in the project report. 1.6.3

System Development Tools

Ultimate Visual studio: ultimate visual studio helps us to develop the system and we select this tool because of it is powerful and its debugging style which help us to check our program is very clear so we can code and debug our system using this tool. SQL Server: SQL Server tool help us to develop the database of our system and we select this tool because the SQL server is one of the relational database and by developing first our database it can easily generate the class from it also called database-first generation of model. Chrome: Chrome helps inspecting and debugging our code. JQuery-Ajax: we use the JQuery-Ajax for the developing front end of our system and we select the JQuery-Ajax because of when we use Ajax call in terms of loading whole page it loads only the specified page or task, so it minimizes the loading time of our system. JQuery data-table: this helps to list, sort, and search and to have the pagination of the data. And we select it is simple to use and authenticate. Php :we use version php 7.3.2.we select this version because for it is the latest and fastest version. Laravel frame work 6.x:the fastest and the most secured frame work for php with 6.x version. Ms exele: we use to import the students data to the system. Xammp : we use xammp for preparing tool. Git bash: we use for command line tools.

1.7 Scope and limitation 1.7.1 Scope

In this project we are going to design and implement robust, interactive and responsive website for KIOT cafeteria. The system does the following features:  Register new students with full information  View students’, and café ticker’s information by the café head  View ticker’s shift schedule  Record the scanned barcode on the id provided  Report the recorded information to the cafe head and the student affair.  Subscribe new events from the students about the meal time 1.7.2 Limitation The following features are not included in the proposed system:  Does not include English language  The system only works with the university local area network.

1.8 Feasibility Study The system we develop is feasible in the following aspects of study. 1.8.1 Operational Feasibility The system we develop is operationally feasible since we develop the system in KIOT there is free internet access to download tools that used for design, implementation and testing phase of development of the system, and there is willingness and support from KIOT cafe coordinators during requirement gathering. 1.8.2

Technical Feasibility

The system we develop is technically feasible since our performance and skill is sufficient to develop the system. The technology and tools we use for developing the system can freely access and we are familiar with these tools. These tools are listed at system development tools and system design and analysis tools. . 1.8.3

Economic Feasibility

The system we develop is economically feasible due to there is no cost required to develop system. The system is cost efficient since the scope of the system we develop at KIOT cafe coordinators we can gather requirement without any cost, and we can access tools and technology easily due to access of internet in our university.

1.9 Significance of the project  The website is the primary sources of presenting every information’s necessary to the café managements.  It provides information to tickers, café head , the students affairs and other concerned bodies about the students.  Students affairs and café head can easily access information without communicating with the tickers easily on time. .  It enables to have improved communication which can result in stronger ,efficient and conservative works.  As today’s modern world, there is an expectation for digitalized system some kind of online presence this modern responsive interactive website will add creditability of the cafe.  Concerned Higher Communication office officials can easily generate summarized statistical of the café information
