Description of Procedure The CAGE is a simple screening questionnaire to identify potential problems with alcohol.

Indications alcohol abuse . help to determine any underlying psychiatric problems.

Interpretation of Findings Item responses on the CAGE are scored 0 or 1, with a higher score an indication of alcohol problems. A total score of 2 or greater is considered clinically significant. If the screen is positive, the clinician can further screen with quantity and frequency questions.

Potential Complications client is not honest. client is not ready to answer questions. client shuts down during the session.
