Can we prevent end of the world? The world will end, and it can be through several possibilities. The world can end due to several different factors and causes. The main reason for the reaction we give once we hear about or even mention end of the world comes from one simple fear…a fear of death. Fear is a strong factor that causes people to overreact and this fear is what causes people to find ways to avoid the inevitable. This era has made people more subjectable to fear of small problem that can take can increase a person’s chance of dying. These trivial problems include “improbable air crashes, carcinogens in their food, low radiation doses, and so forth.”1. The fear people have of dying sooner than expected can cause people to overreact. People are more worried about minor problems but “turn a blind eye to one that can cause catastrophic events”. Most threats that have caused extinction level events, have come from nature in form of diseases, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, however now the most biggest threats come from us.1 Humanity has come a very long way, from the days where humans would be riddled sick with diseases unknown, and from days where earthquakes and tsunami would destroy cities. In a short amount of time humans have learned from natural disasters and have found ways to either withstand them or to create early warning systems to avoid high death tolls. All diseases old or new get studied quickly as they are found out, and a cure or antidote is created for them soon as possible. However, as humans have learned to survive against natures onslaught, they themselves have put themselves in more danger by building weapons like the atom bomb to nuclear warheads capable of wiping out all of humanity from the face of the earth. To simplify quote one of greatest human mind to ever live “Mankind invented the atomic bomb, but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap.”2. The statement made by Martin Rees that our planet is now in our hand is indeed correct. As time goes on human technology will advance further and further but the drive to increase our technological knowledge could backfire on us. Humanity uses technology to make them feel better, it helps them give a bit of relief that we have technology capable of handling threats that put us at harms way. Due to the rise of technology even greater threat may come true. A Planes is a mode of transportation for most, it helps them connect to friends, family and their business all around the world. In case of a major pandemic due to air travel it would take not weeks or month but days and even hours for a global pandemic to spread. Yes, we have measure in place at airports if something does happen to give us relief but how effective they would be having yet to be tested. Humanity is moving towards biotech to help make human life longer and easier. The same biotech in the wrong hand can wipe out humanity. As we advance further into the future, we make robots and AI. However, what if “dumb robots going rogue, or a network that develops a mind of its own threatens us all.”1 We can try to regulate this by putting in various laws but how effective will these laws be, if we take a look at the drug laws. We see how hard it is too maintaining those laws since drugs are widespread. Humans are playing with fire and must watch out or get burned. Humans have realised that they do have an affect on this world, but they haven’t realised that the world can end any second due to various things going wrong. Fear of death makes us want to be immortal. But in our chase for immortality we have created things that can kill us or things that

can destroy this entire planet. With every new advancement in bio or just advancement in technology a new threat appears that we can not see or choose to ignore for the chance at a longer life. However, humanity must soon realise that they must stop now before its too late.
