This capabilities audit forms part of a research project entitled ‘Enhancing graduate employability through a capabilities framework’. Please read the information letter on the unit Blackboard site (refer to location). Please check this box only if you wish to opt-out of participating in the research: These capabilities have been developed following extensive research and consultation with industry 1. They represent the capability achievement level for a newly graduated student. Your workplace supervisor will be asked to assess your level of achievement of these capabilities at the end of your work placement. Use this table to assess your ability against each of the capabilities. You are not expected to have mastered all of the elements in this table. Be honest with yourself when assessing your capabilities and identify between 5 to 8 specific areas that you need to focus on improving, to help you prepare for future employment. Rate your ability to perform in the following capabilities:

1. Working effectively with others Contribute constructively to group tasks through collaborative communication, problem solving, discussion and planning, on and off line and within agreed timelines. Operate within, and contribute to, a respectful, supportive and cooperative group climate. Acknowledge the complex emotions and viewpoints of others and respond sensitively and appropriately. Work proactively and appropriately with people from diverse groups. Actively listen and demonstrate empathy when putting forward one’s perspective to achieve a common goal. Address contentious issues and matters of conflict with key stakeholders in a constructive and appropriate manner. 2. Communicating effectively Communicate orally in a clear and professional manner which is appropriately varied according to different audiences and seniority levels. Seek, give and receive feedback appropriately and constructively. Speak publicly with confidence and in a style appropriate to the audience. Participate constructively in meetings. Recognise and respond appropriately to non-verbal cues. Communicate in a clear, structured and professional manner using written formats most appropriate for the target audience.
