1. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is the information management system that integrates departments and disciplines within a company to support company-wide operations and data management requirements. ERP is a helpful tool that integrates an organization’s primary functions such as inventory control, production, sales, services, etc. to improve efficiency and support decision-making. It is important because, aside from its function to generate quality data, ERP also improves data security and reliability and provides cost-effective support for users. 2. Buying a system like SAP Business One helps in improving operations and boosting profitable growth. It allows real-time access to data across all departments, easy to implement, provides effective supply chain management, flexible that it allows companies to create their own rules, data security, and users can download information into documents or spreadsheet for further analysis. However, its disadvantage is the high cost of purchasing and implementing, cost to train employee in the functions they have to access to, it is so complex that companies cannot adjust to it and may be difficult to replace. 3. Business Partner Master Data is used to record and retrieve business partner’s information and schedule business partner’s activities. This contains the company details, company address, telephone numbers, business partner’s contact person, details of payment, etc. Item Master Data is used to control or manage items that were purchased, manufactured, sold, or kept in inventory. This master data contains general information about the item (number, description, type, group, etc.), purchasing data, sales data, inventory data, and price list. 4. As the emergence of technology advances and becomes more powerful, professionals such as accountants start to worry about what if machines will replace them. It is not a surprise that machines/software is quicker and more efficiently capable of handling many accounting tasks. But this doesn’t mean that there’s no need for human effort. Even with advanced software, companies would still need an accountant to analyze and interpret data and that these machines will not replace accountants but will assist accountants in giving better services. 5. Authorizations in SAP allow a certain user to view, create and update documents they had been assign and prevent a user from accessing data that is not theirs. It is important to clearly define the modules that can be accessed by a specific user so that each authorizations are granted correctly according to the user’s actual role and responsibilities.
