“Down Fall of CD-R King”

To conduct this case study, I am Riza Monica P. Chua, a third-year college student in section 3-C, and the course I am taking is BS-Entrepreneuship. I will conduct this case study to determine why CD-Rking was closed or lost by four basic departments of business management: marketing, human resource, financial, and production-operation management.

It all started in 1997 with the establishment of CD-R King in Quiapo, Philippines. Nicholson Santos and Henry Ngo, according to public documents, founded the company. A tiny firm on Paterno Street, the first CD-R King, offered CD-Rs, also known as recordable CD’s when they were the dominant means of data storage.

Later, the original facility shuttered. CD-R King started opening new locations near colleges and universities, a strategic move to put the firm closer to its target market of students and teachers.

Due to a growing demand for newer technologies, CD-R King increased their product line to incorporate more modern technology sourced from China. In response to the introduction of CD-Rs and CD-RWs (CD-Rewritable), the company extended its product range to include computer components, telephones, audio and video equipment, car accessories, LED lighting, and household goods.

If the CD-R king could do something unique and beat the e-commerce, the company would be the most buyable and affordable. CD-R king should update their website to make it easier for the buyers, and their product should test if this has a technical error on the product so the company could get their trust again on buying on their product.

PROBLEM STATEMENT CD-R King's primary disadvantage is that competitors such as Miniso, Mumuso, and similarly themed mini-department stores that sell similar items to CD-R King, such as speakers, headphones, and earphones, as well as power banks, have likely eaten into CD-R King's market share. Still, the primary competitor that they cannot beat is ecommerce. E-commerce is shining a spotlight on one of the greatest cheap items, and

you'll notice that their selling is of a higher quality than CD-R King's inexpensive but lowquality product.

CD-R King received many complaints from the customer, first, is the faulty product their product last only 1 to 2 weeks, Second, their staff giving an attitude their customer, third, don’t know what the purpose of the product, last, the product is available, but when the team gets lazy, they always say is out of stock. This problem should be fixed and especially for their product. The Optical Media Board accused CD-R King of enabling copyright infringement through affordable media supplied by the company in 2008, issuing a $1.5 million penalty for failing to submit permits for sure of the company's optical media disc importations.

To combat the selling of illegal repeaters or signal boosters in the Philippines, Globe Telecom made agreements with many large electronics and IT equipment merchants, including CD-R King, in 2013. The agreement forbids merchants from selling signal boosters that do not meet the National Telecommunications Commission's criteria.

STATEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVE CD-R King may conduct tests on their product to determine whether there is a faulty product. If they execute it correctly, they may be able to enhance the development and boost the confidence of their customers, increasing the likelihood that they will purchase more of their products. The firm should experiment with operating a business that relied on the internet to save time, money, and resources.

Imagine that the company could make precise changes to its product and sell it more successfully on the internet. In such instances, it is possible that growth will occur, albeit it may take some time before any noticeable effects are seen. Nonetheless, if you have faith in the process, this might be of great aid. The company may be able to confer the title of "King" onto them. Suppose the firm could make specific improvements to its product and market it more effectively on the internet. In that case, this may result in growth, albeit it may take some time to see results. Even so, if you believe in the

process, this might be a massive assistance. The corporation may be able to bestow the title of "King" onto them.

TIME CONTEXT 2019 is the fall of CD-R king if CD-R king will continue and improve by making a solution that make them in top affordable one stop shops in the internet world and improve the quality of their product this make sure that this will last up to 20-30 years.

AREAS OF CONCIDERATION INTERNAL STRENGTH   

One of the best one stop shops All media product is all there Affordable product

WEAKNESSESS   

Product last 2-3 weeks Competitors (e-commerce) Low training of employers

EXTERNAL OPPORTUNITY  

Join with the e-commerce Studying for better improvement of every product

TREAT  

E-commerce (Shopee, Lazada, etc.) Faulty products

ALTERNATIVE COURSE OF ACTION (ACA)

These are the possible solutions, or strategies to solve the problem. Each must mutually exclusive or independent

ANALYSIS ACA1 This will improve their product and learnings in the internet world. How will they plan on using an internet platform, but There are 50/50 chances that this will not work because of the competitors It make take a while, but they handle it with a plan. This may go well.

ACA 2

This will improve their workers to do more and with the suitable proper manners to a customer. The quality of the product will be more focused cause most customers are looking for better quality and affordable. The disadvantage of this is we have been suffering in pandemic this may not be applicable for now cause most people not going outside that much and most people using the internet to buy their needed product.

ACA 3 This may help boost their company by using both actual and virtual selling, and this may bring up the attention of customers that CD-R king is improving not just in their workers and product but also in the e-commerce community. The disadvantage is that they might not get that much attention, not like Lazada, Shopee, etc., working as ecommerce.

CONCLUSION COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF EACH ACA DECISION MATRIX below the table it shows the rating of effectiveness and efficiency:

1-3 low effectiveness and efficiency 4-6 good effectiveness and efficiency 7-10 Great effectiveness and efficiency

PLAN OF ACTION The plan is to test all the product to see if it's working properly before selling them out so there will be no faulty product. Next is to train all workers online. Actual, so workers are fully prepared, next is to make a website or an app that buyers can access quickly with an instruction how to use that app or website, next is making ads so many people may know that up or website where they can buy stuffs, last is that making sure that the buyer likes the product and leave a review on that specific product.

ASSUMPTION

If they train their employees work correctly with manners, improve their product quality and continue to do on the internet world, the CD-R will continue, and this will make them more popular than the other e-commerce I suggest that they need more learning on the internet world and do more training on their workers with knowledge on product and manners...
