Chapter 6 Part one: 1. Stereotype can create a self-fulfilling prophecy because you are assuming about the person before you’ve even talked to or met. It is unfair to the person to assume something just because of their physical appearance. The hiring process can be affected by this because the employer may assume something about the person and stereotype them, before they’ve even given them a chance to prove themselves. 2. When someone is given the power to hire employees, they have to choose whether they are going to stereotype the person and assume before giving them a chance, or they will give them a chance to prove themselves and what they’re saying to be true. 3. Reducing prejudice and racism, discrimination Change environmental factors Decrease discriminatory behavior. 4. It states in the text that prejudice and discrimination are hard to separate because they usually go together in most cases. They’re hard to separate. 5. Managers can do several things to help groups interact with each other. They can do group activities, bonding exercises, they can give each other advice on how to become a better employer. Part two: The Jigsaw Classroom idea can be applied to bigger companies too. They can plan a larger project and give different roles to different employers. They can all do their task and when one person is finished the other can do their task. It is a group effort but individual work. This will help everyone come and work together. Part three: In this video we are shown the shock theory. This was used to show the role of authority. It is shown that the person was supposed to remember the list of words. If they didn’t remember they were told they would be shocked. It was shown the obedience was the highest when the person was given the order by a nearby person and when they perceived it was a person of high authority. Especially if we were from a prestigious organization....
