CINE 101 CINE 101- Film Analysis Assignment Assignment Instructions and Questions

Project Choices: You may choose any one of the following options to complete this assignment: Movie Poster – Create an original, digital movie poster using a free site like “Canva”. Be sure the poster includes (through visuals and words, as needed) answers some of the questions below. On your assigned presentation day, bring your laptop and present your poster to the class. Explain your poster in 3-5 minutes and be specific about how you incorporated answers to the questions into your poster. For example, if presenting a poster about the The Wizard of Oz, you might include statements like, “I chose a wheat field and a yellow brick road for the background of my poster because the film’s premise is that a girl travels from reality to a different dimension.” Movie Trailer – Create a 1-minute movie trailer using a free site like Bitable or Renderforest. Be sure the trailer answers some of the questions below. On your assigned presentation day, bring your laptop and present your trailer to the class. After showing your trailer, explain in 3-5 minutes how you incorporated answers to the assigned questions into your trailer. For example, if presenting a movie trailer about the The Wizard of Oz, you might explain it with statements like, “I used the ruby shoes prominently in my trailer to show the witch’s desire for them and the power that comes with the shoes.” Pitch Meeting – Develop a 3-minute “commercial” to convince a fictional director or producer to make your assigned movie. You will create a PowerPoint presentation to accompany your pitch. Start with an exciting tag line, followed by the film’s highlights, and a rationale for why the move should be made, based on your responses to Questions: 1, and 10-17. See a sample (written) pitch here: https://www.slideshare.net/vini95/the-pitch-film17712896 Each student will be emailed during the first two weeks of class with an assigned movie. (We will watch the films during class as schedule permits). *These questions are solely to help your creative process and are not required to be turned in with the assignment. However, it is highly recommended that you use three to six of these questions to structure your presentation in class.*
