People of the State of CA vs. Orenthal James Simpson November 2, 1994 (jury sworn in) to verdict on October 3. 1995 OJ Simpson charged w/ two counts of first degree murder (Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman)

On June 13, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found murdered outside Nicole’s condo (12:10 AM) OJ and Nicole had divorced 2 years earlier Nicole was stabbed multiple times in the head and neck with defensive wounds on her hands

How the crime scene was handled ○ Investigators travelled between crime scenes, possibly contaminated evidence Mark Fuhrman - first detective on the scene, finds gloves; prosecution’s star witness ○ Tapes from 80s found where he used very derogatory, racist language when speaking about suspects ○ Pleaded the fifth amendment when asked if he planted evidence in the case ○ Convicted for perjury (lying under oath) EDTA in specific blood stains ○ Chemical used to preserve blood -- does not occur naturally; found in the blood that was on socks Police inside Bronco before forensically examined ○ Evidence in the car was mishandled; traveling between crime scenes

Shoe prints at scene of the crime were from expensive Bruno Magli shoes (only a few hundred pairs sold in US) ○ When Simpson was asked about owning shoes, he said he didn’t own them ○ Pictures of him wearing the shoes surfaced, but Simpson said they were doctored ○ More pictures surfaced that were published in a newspaper; he was proven to be lying about shoes Lost civil case...
