After taking another look at the artifact I interpreted the artifacts message to be to not take pictures or videos of yourself while driving, I feel like this was the intended message. I also feel there is a secondary message as well that I don’t think was the main intention and I think that message is to not use your phone while driving at all. In many adults and teens, it has been drilled in our heads that using your phone and driving is deadly when looking at this picture I believe it subconsciously sends this message as well. The reason this artifact exists is because of the growth of technology. When I was a teen learning to drive many of the adults in my life said, “I could never text and drive”. Fast forward to today however, now with technology its easier to text and drive and I see many adults that are my age and older texting and driving daily. The other thing technology has brought us is social media, I’m sure you have seen people taking videos of themselves while behind the wheel, whether they are driving or not it gives the wrong message. While I have not seen too many people taking selfies while driving, I would not put it past humanity to be doing it. I do not think the model’s face reads scared so much as it reads “something smells bad” and I think him changing that expression would help the message more. One other thing that I would change for the intended message is how the model is “bracing”. The way the model is bracing currently doesn’t portray an imminent impact. I realize that the artist may not want the face covered, but to me that would be more realistic. The message overall is still easily understandable as it is now but with these tweaks it could elevate the picture even more....
