Disease Treatment Disease/Illness
Health & Wellness Are Multi-Dimensional • Physical - not experiencing emotion can impact our physical health, body functioning, physical fitness, Activities of Daily Living (ADL), (preform daily work) • Emotional/mental - experience a range of emotions, self-esteem, self-efficacy, expression, trust, love, ability to cope with daily circumstances and deal with personal feelings • Intellectual - ability to think clearly, reason objectivity, engaging in important things, being informed, being “health literate”, seeking out information, navigating • Social - ability to have satisfying relationships; adapting to social situations, we do better health wise if we have social interactions with others. people who have low to no interactions have a higher chance of disease • Spiritual - most people do not think about spirituality when they think about their health, is not about believing in a higher power, feeling as if part of a greater spectrum or existence, one with nature and environment, peace, contentment, system of beliefs **All of these are intertwined**

Physical Fitness • Multi-dimensional state of being • Body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively • Not the same as physical health and wellness - more physically related to components of the body • Fitness assessments - provide feedback and baseline, promotes knowledge
Need For Fitness • Effective work • Good health • Face emergencies • Enjoyable leisure
Value For Fitness • Look good • Feel good • Enjoy life • Be “Healthy”
