How do firewalls help prevent a network security breach? What is the best antivirus software in the world and why is it the best software in the world? Is it important for companies to invest in the best anti malware?

When it comes to antivirus and malware this is the first step into protecting a companies assets and sensitive information. Antivirus and malware scans for incoming files or code that is coming in through their network. This creates a large database for known viruses and scans for potentially new threats. Once detected the system kicks in and essentially blocks it from coming through and causing a numerous amount of devastating damage to the company. The best rated antivirus and malware detection is called Bitdefender Antivirus. Created in Romania in 2001 is mainly used for large scale companies but offers a plan for personal PC use. Bitdefender describes their software as, “Bitdefender Antivirus Plus works against all e-threats, from viruses, worms and Trojans, to ransomware, zero-day exploits, rootkits and spyware. Your data and privacy are safe. ... It works with the Advanced Threat Defense module to protect your most important files from encryption by ransomware.”. With that they are not the only the only antivirus and malware detection software there are other companies in competition with them. Companies like Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro Maximum Security, ESET Smart Security, and many others. Each software is rated on specific sections like firewall, anti-theft, backup software, and ransomware. To describe in the last year for data breach’s Digital Guardian says, “According to the Ponemon Institute’s Cost of a Data Breach Report, an annual compendium of data breach trends that over the years has become a barometer of sorts for the information security industry, in 2020, data breaches on average cost $3.86 million. While the average cost is down a tick (1.5%) from Ponemon's 2019 figure, $3.92 million, the report’s highest cost - the average cost of a data breach in the

United States in 2020 - $8.64 million, is higher than 2019's figure, $8.19 million. Worldwide, the cost of a breach, is largely going up. In the Middle East, which was the second costliest region last year (a breach cost $5.97 million there) a breach this year would cost $6.52 million. Canada and Japan – third and fifth on the list respectively – saw their average costs go up too. For the 10th year in a row, healthcare organizations have had the highest costs associated with a data breach. This year IBM claims on average that a healthcare breach costs an organization $7.1M, up a hair from last year's cost ($6.45M). The second costliest industry, the energy industry, cost firms $6.39 million on average.” (Chris Brook, 2020). With this being said only are average companies affected but also hospitals are attacked which just means that investing and maintaining this software makes it just much more important to keep people and companies safe from exposure.
