Description

Individual Lab Analysis and Conclusion: Murder and a Meal Report your findings using a conclusion paragraph. This is an individual assignment and everyone in your group will write a different conclusion. CLAIM - Write a statement regarding which restaurant the victim most likely visited for his last meal. Explain whether your hypothesis was supported by the results of the tests your team performed. (This could be different than your group members); Highlight this in Yellow EVIDENCE - Provide a logical explanation based on the evidence from the test on the stomach contents that explains how you reached that conclusion. (Highlight this in green) REASON - Your report should be written to explain the results of the tests in regard to the application of the scientific concepts applied in the investigation - macromolecules and the specific tests used to identify their presence. You must also discuss the mistakes that could have caused errors in the results. Suggest some of the forensic or scientific next steps that could be taken to confirm the results of the tests you performed (HINT- repeating the same test is NOT a next step). (Highlight this in pink) My claim was that the victim of the murder had last ate at Cafe Allegro, because the test sample had Complex Carbohydrates, Lipids. . We conducted 3 different tests, which were Benedict's reagent, The Grease Spot Test, Biuret indicator and Iodine Indicator. The results we got for the simple carbohydrates was negative, Compex carbohydrate was Positive, Proteins was a negative, and Lipids tested positive. Pasta ,bread and olive oil has complex carbohydrates and lipid macromolecules. We determined that there was carbohydrates because the test solution was at one point a blue color but by the time the 5 minutes were up, the color was green. We determined that there was complex carbohydrate is because right as we added iodine, our substance instantly turned black. For Proteins, our substance looked a bit pink, we believe that was due to the color of the test solution. It was more clear than anything though. Lastly, for the grease spot test, It looked very greasy, and it was staining up the paper. The Paper, when held up to the light, became somewhat transparent, proving it was positive. One mistake I think we made during the experiment is with the protein test because the substance was light pink, compared to what it should be, which is purple. My next step would be to research the results of other tests finding the same thing that I was finding. When finished, submit to Canvas...
