Description

Kaylie Baker! COM-263! 2/14/21 For this research paper I plan on looking into the culture of The Netherlands, Dutch. Reasoning for choosing the Dutch culture is that I have been to The Netherlands and I absolutely loved being there and being around the dutch people, and I want to explore their ways of life into more depth. Things I want to expand my knowledge on are the daily/social life, their music and the media/publishing in the Netherlands. I believe these three points to be some of the most important aspects of any countries cultural foundations. Along with looking into these facts by research, I personally have been to the Netherlands and got to see how everyday life works there, but I still only know surface level facts on the culture. I believe looking into the culture with more depth it will help me understand how the American culture is different from theirs. Sources https://www.britannica.com/place/Netherlands/People This source, britannica.com, I plan to use to look into the basics of the Dutch culture. This gives me a foundation on what I can look at by having sections for each of the points I plan on going over. Once looking into the daily/social life, their music and the media/publishing of the Dutch culture through britannica.com I will go to other articles to go more into depth on each point. https://worldmusic.net/blogs/guide-to-world-music/the-music-of-the-netherlands This article is about the music life in The Netherlands. Looking at this article gives me background on the kind of and sound of music from The Netherlands, along with also giving me a historical look on past music leading up to the music of today. The article explains how all the different original cultures came together slowly to make the Dutch culture as we know it today. https://www.expatica.com/nl/living/integration/dutch-etiquette-101736/ This article expands on the etiquette and social cues used in the Dutch Culture. Things such as dining manners, introduction styles and even social events (dining in restaurants, shopping, concert or large art gatherings.) Along with how family dynamics work compared to how friendships and strangers act to one another....
