Description

Debrief Question for Ryerson. 1. Check in and capture your first impressions: a. Think back to the moment you completed the game. What is the first thought that sprang to mind? What did you feel at that point? (proud? frustrated? confident?) I was nervous and very frustrated when I first saw the scene. It is difficult for me to see the couple arguing. I was very nervous and constantly trying to grab their attention. b. How are you feeling about the game right now? A little bit more confident cause I know what I am doing. The patient seems calm and now is more willing to talk to me. so, I felt more comfortable. c.

Can you recall how you felt at different points in the game? For example, o o o

when you encountered Mr. Marchand disagreeing with his partner; Frustrated. when you joined the team meeting; Scared but also confident. when you needed to speak with a team member you didn’t know. Anxious but excited to share the information.

2. Take a deeper look: Please replay the game as you reflect, stopping the video while you think and referring to the Summary you received at the end of the game. Ask yourself: a. What did you find easy? Why do you think this was the case? One thing I find easy was offering self to the patient. This really gave an importunity to patient to speak up and to share their concerns. Even the patients partner shares his concern, so I was able to figure about the problems more easily and what is the priority. Also regarding the simulations, there were multiple options choice and I try to choose different options even though it is wrong to learn more about it. This option was really helpful and easy. b. Collaborating with an interprofessional team can be challenging at times! What were the main challenges in your experience? Why was it challenging? Expressing concern to the team I very challenging for me. It is little bit hard for me to collaborate the interprofessional team member to share the concerns. c. Did Does anything surprise you? Yes. I was surprised to see the conflict between the family members. It was a little bit different situation to experience. It was a challenge for me to calm them down and to figure out the problem and to collaborate with the team to formulate the discharge plan.

d. One of the learning objectives of this game relates to learning to apply behaviors (competencies) that optimize collaborative interprofessional practice. Which competency did you learn most about as you experienced the game? Interprofessional communication. This was the most effective way for me to approach to the team members that I don’t know, to share information with my tea. Members and to get answer from my colleagues to enhance the care.

1. Can you provide an example of how or where Teamwork’s helped you learn about the competencies of IP collaborative practice? When I discussed the patient’s ongoing issue with the team members, we had shared the decision making and formulate goals to gain optimal patient outcomes. 3. Plan for the future: a. Identify one thing you will try to do differently in your practice in the future. One thing I would try differently next time is properly se the conflict resolution technique in situation like this. I would first ask if the patient is okay talking with the presence of visitor or not at the beginning of the interview. b.

What will your first step be? Can anything help/hinder your ability with this? Patient safety would be my first step and using the conflict resolution technique will be more helpful in this patient condition.

c. What do you still, have questions about? I don’t think I have any question, but this was definitely the new experience for me beside VSIMS....
