Virtual Supplementation Three – Debrief Questions 1. What were your thoughts and feelings as you assumed the role the pediatric nurse Gabe during the simulation? My thoughts and feelings through playing the role of nurse Gabe was to put myself in her shoes and pretend that I was her so that I could better understand the situation as I went through the simulation

2. Please summarize what happened during the scenario from your perspective. what happened during the scenario I feel was the child building a nurse client relationship by allowing nurse gave 2 take vitals and assess. It was also troubling to choose what to say carefully as you don't want to upset the child's parent but also ensure you state what you were doing and what your findings are so both parent and child feel they are part of their own care.

3. What did you learn in relation to establishing a therapeutic nurse–client relationship with Sasha and his mom? What did you realize you needed to do differently for each client? In order to create a good therapeutic nurse client relationship with the mother I tried to pick answers that we're thorough and explained exactly what I was doing and what I was looking for like when the mother panicked after I assessed for Peter pulses and Sasha's feet. I realize that for each client the plan of care is different and making sure that the parents are included in planning the care for their child this creates a good base for therapeutic relationship.

4. Not everyone works their way through this scenario perfectly. What learning can you take from the incorrect decisions/responses you made? I realize that some of the choices I made were not correct in the sense that it either didn't get the right response from the client. moving further and going into clinical I will think more carefully when choosing my wording as I realized from this simulation that wording is key in order to get what you need done.

5. What did you learn in relation to completing post-operative care for a pediatric patient? I realized that in relation to postoperative care it is important to do deep breathing and coughing. I had just learned in clinical that this helps raise O2 stats. I also learned that checking people pulses after an abdominal surgery is important to check for circulation.

6. What questions remain unanswered for you in relation to this pediatric post-operative simulation scenario? Why did nurse Gabe give morphine and dimenhydrinate when Sasha didn’t say or appear nauseated?...
