If you were to walk out in public with no clothing on, you would most likely be arrested, wouldn’t you? Or if you engaged in actions that have the purpose of oppressing others? Actions like these can land you a spot in a jail cell, so why should these kinds of behavior be treated any differently on social media?  Social media has come to dominate our everyday lives and is an efficient means to transfer news among people around the world.  However, not everyone has good intentions, similar to the real world outside of our devices. There are jails and correctional facilities for those who commit crimes, helping them learn from their mistakes, and become better people.  On social media, similar action can be taken to protect the community and keep users safe and happy to be a member of various platforms.

Thesis  Social media bans should be used to protect users from dangerous behavior, while not impeding on the basic rights of users, including the First Amendment, through establishing specific rules and punishments for actions on social media platforms. Forecast  Today, I will discuss social media bans and the ways they should be implemented, the issues that can and have arisen from the implication of bans, and what the best course of action should be to prevent these problems from repeatedly occurring. 





Re-state Thesis  To enforce rules on social media and keep users safe, social media platforms should place bans on those who can be a threat to the satisfaction and safety of other users on a platform. Summary of Points  Today, I discussed the purpose of social media bans and how they are used, some problems that could come from the use of these bans, and the ways that these problems can be prevented on social media platforms.
