Mr. John Smith Southeastern Guide Dogs 4210 77th Street East Palmetto, FL 34221 Dear Mr. Smith, Subject: Need Information on Student Volunteers for Puppy Raising Is there any application process to become a puppy raiser for Southeastern Guide dogs? Your program sparked an interest to bring to the students of Tarleton State University for the opportunity to volunteer and help serve others by raising puppies until they are old enough to enter their guide dog training program. We hope to have this become an option for students starting next semester, Fall of 2018. Will you please answer the following questions regarding student volunteers through Southeastern Guide Dogs:      

Is there an application process for the students to become a puppy raiser? Is there a max number of student volunteers you accept at a time? What is needed once you have a puppy; what will be provided? Who pays for the costs of raising the puppies; Who is responsible for vet visits? Are there training classes for the students to attend to ensure the puppies are being raised properly for their expected future? When do the students get to take home the puppies and how long do they have them?

The answers to the questions above are much appreciated and will help the Center for Transformative Learning bring this volunteer opportunity to the students of Tarleton State University if it seems like a right fit for the college students.
