Description

This has been a tough year, for everybody, I absolutely appreciate all of my children's teachers they are amazing. Teaching is not always an easy profession and teachers are not appreciated as they should be. I’ve received many emails about being patient and understanding during this difficult time. My children and I have been patient and understanding. Everybody made a very big deal out of how last year's graduating class missed out, and they did. However, this year's graduating class has missed out as well and not only for the last few weeks of their senior year, but on EVERYTHING for their senior year. So why are some teachers penalizing students by not accepting late work at all? Or penalizing students by only giving partial points on an assignment that was turned in late? This is specific only in the case of my senior student. I have been reminded that this is a class that is a requirement for graduating, I’m very aware of this and so is Nicholas. We have a conversation about the importance of doing the best he can in these classes almost every day. Nicholas is not the strongest student, I know it, he knows it, I believe his teachers know it. He gets frustrated when he doesn’t understand what he needs to do on an assignment, when confronted by a teacher with why something isn’t done or done the correct way, he shuts down instead of seeking the help he obviously needs. I not asking for him to be given less work (which has been some teachers solution in past years) only that he isn’t penalized for turning in the work late. I would have sincerely thought that all teacher would be as patient and understanding during this difficult year as they have expected from their students....
