There are several factors to keep in mind when evaluating research. One is the sample size of the study, the larger the sample size the chance of replicating the study is higher (Weissmark, 2018). Two important factors that need to be considered when evaluating research are validity and reliability. Other factors to keep in mind are validity and reliability. Reliability refers to the consistency of the measure, whereas validity is the accuracy of the measure, in other words, the research is confident they are measuring what they believe they are measuring (Hacker & Sommers, 2017). Reliability alone is not enough when conducting research because the researcher can mistakenly be consistently inaccurate with measurements or measure the wrong things, therefore validity is required to ensure that is not the case (Hacker & Sommers, 2017).
