Group project regarding information technology and errors in certain companies and organizations....

Description

Dynamedical Project Proposal: 

What is it? What does it do? How does it work? o NetSuite is a cloud-based ERP system, which handles warehousing, production, sales, customer service, and financial management. The system allows for supply chain management, production management, and financial management to be integrated into one system. The program also includes features that assist with customer relationship management by creating detailed profiles for each customer within the company.

How is it different from existing technologies and/or management practices? What are the advantages/disadvantages? o NetSuite is the best ERP/CRM management software in the market. It outshines from its competitors by its advanced integration of E-commerce, back-office ERP, and CRM service. The program allows for the whole entire process, from manufacturing to client-communications to be completely automated. In addition, the system complies all fragmented data within a corporate and compile/sort it accordingly. NetSuite is well-received for its ability to be customized according to the preference of each employee/client, making the transition process between platforms to be smoother. The program even allows for employee management productivity, making it easier for management to view employee expenses, records and dashboards. NetSuite is different from its competitors due to its versatility and various number of different systems included within the system. It even allows for global accounting and multilingual relations between customers

and clients. Additionally, unlike its competitors like SAGE and Acumatica, Oracle’s NetSuite can be used globally whereas the other programs are intended for communications within in North America. For its price, NetSuite’s program includes more functions than its competitors who charge a heavy price for one or two business functions. o Potential disadvantages that may arise from using NetSuite might be the time taken to initially implement the program within the company, device incompatibility, and price increases over time. There are fees for 24/7 tech support for errors within the software, which is not included in the cost of the program. 

What are the competitors/alternatives and future trends? o Top Competitors of NetSuite: 

Microsoft Dynamics

SAGE ERP

QuickBooks

Xero

Acumatica

o Predicted Trends in ERP systems: 

Big data analytics

Integrated data

Mobility

Cloud computing.

Customizable software.

Use of Big Data for process such as sales forecasting.

Why is it needed in your company (problems resolved, opportunities created)? Be sure to use concepts/frameworks learned in class whenever possible! o With the use of NetSuite, there would be multiple errors which could be fixed within Dynamedical. 

Storage/Warehousing Issue: The warehousing feature within NetSuite can help ensure the availability of goods as well as the reduction of products in excess. The finance component of the program allows for more accurate predictions for the stocking/production of goods.

Document Accessibility: NetSuite’s integrated system places all scattered information within the company into one common location accessible by all departments. This reduces data redundancy and reduces communication time between departments (allowing for faster response times on inquiries). It also allows for the traceability of files and their uses.

Insufficient CRM: The Customer Relation Management components of the program helps streamline communication between Dynamedical and its clients by creating casefiles for each of its customers. The ‘cases’ are composed of all previous

communication from the customer, as well as files/orders/receipts from any previous dealings. This can prove to be incredibly helpful as it reduces any potential miscommunication and allows easier and faster access to files related specifically to the client. 

How will it affect our businesses? What are the Costs, Benefits, Risks, and Opportunities? o Costs of Implementing NetSuite: 

Support staff may need to be hired to assist with any issues in the program. Additionally, during the initial implementation Dynamedical might have to hire an ERP specialist to train employees. The program requires additional payment for online support and certain customization features. Future upgrades will also require payment.

o Benefits of Implementing NetSuite; 

Reduces the cost and need for multiple different systems/extensions.

Allows for better decision making/budgeting.

Efficient stock management.

Ability to track worker progress without additional communication.

What will be the impact on firms using it, not using it, consumers,

workers, society, etc.?  Be sure to apply concepts/frameworks learned in class whenever possible! o Impacts of Not Using NetSuite: o Without the use of NetSuite, firms can lose track of inventory, purchase history and client information. NetSuite’s warehousing features let employees know what products are in stock instantaneously. This feature can help reduce the cost of storage. Additionally, without an ERP system the firm would require the use of multiple programs to achieve tasks, which unnecessarily complicates the process within departments. In having to use different programs, the firm is at a higher risk of data loss, miscommunication and delayed purchases/shipments. o For consumers, this can mean delayed packages, the unavailability of required products, and delayed response times from the clients for any issues arisen.

o Impacts of Using NetSuite: o The use of NetSuite can change the company 

NetSuite has self-service portals which can increase and strength collaborations between other businesses and clients. Due to the automation of the service, the accelerated process can make Dynamedical a favorable partner.

The use of NetSuite can decrease the training period required from new employees. Learning to use one integrated system as opposed to learning multiple programs can save more company time and money.

By using NetSuite, the firm would have better employee productivity, partner relationship management as well as better customer relations.

For customers, this can mean quick responses from the firm, availability of required products, and a higher chance of returning for any further inquiries. For Dynamedical, the use of NetSuite can ensure a loyal customer base....
