Kevin Carlos P. Manuel October 15, 2014 Lab Partner: Emika Joy Balagtas A2Q Experiment 11: Carbohydrates 1. Draw the osazones produced in the experiment. 2. Theoretically, arrange the following sugars according to their reactivity with the Benedict's reagent. Glucose, Fructose, Maltose, Sucrose, Starch. Starch>Maltose>Fructose>Glucose> Sucrose 3. What is the difference between the Barfoeds and Benedict's Test? Both uses Cu2+ ions but the Barfoeds test occurs in an acidic solution while the Benedict's test occurs in alkaline solution. 4. Can the Seliwanoff's test be used to differentiate Sucrose from Fructose? Why? No for Sucrose is a disaccharide containing fructose and glucose. Due to this, Sucrose will test positive to the Seliwanoff's test....
