This case was fought because at the time in 1951, Black schools were not providing the same education as white schools. Seeing this injustice Oliver Brown filed a class-action lawsuit against the Board of Education (What was Brown, n.d.). Maria Montessori has been credited as one of the leading innovators of early childhood education. She has effected the way we see early childhood education in many ways. Including, the admission of various avenues to learning, the significance of solid or hands-on learning, the various stages of cognitive development in students, and the link between children's emotional development and their ability to learn at a decent pace (Maria Montessori, 2018). or shortened their years because they could afford to pay teachers and administration. Some districts resorted to handing out promissory notes which caused some teachers to quit and find other jobs. That in turn caused class sizes to grow to large numbers ( Lynch, 2018). All of this collectively caused children to not get the proper education they needed. Piaget had discovered after interviewing children, that they had remarkable answers to his questions. He realized that children had a different thinking structure than adults (McLeod, 2018). After this discovery Piaget he proposed a stage model of cognitive development that influences early childhood development today.
