Claudia Lay Bloom’s Taxonomy Questions Create: How else would you handle the situation with the kid and the hat? Evaluate: Do you believe teachers should have some training on how to manage their classrooms or continue to “just wing it?” Analyze: What connections can you make between the podcast “Is this working?” and Being Bad? Apply: What questions would you have for the officer if given the chance to interview him? Understand: Which statements from the podcast support the idea of the school-to-prison pipeline? Remember: List the four responses given by the teachers about the kid and the hat.

My Answers to Two of the questions above: Create: How else would you handle the situation with the kid and the hat? I would ask for a volunteer to tell the student with the hat what the rule was for wearing hats in school. And so a volunteer from the class would tell him the rule and then I would ask another student what he should do with the hat to avoid the urge to put it on again. And depending on the answer I would agree and it will be done; or I will take the hat and hold on to it for the rest of the day.

Evaluate: Do you believe teachers should have some training on how to manage their classrooms or continue to “just wing it?” I do believe students training to become teachers should have some kind of training on how to manage their classroom instead of having to just wing it. I do know that there are many books and articles on how to manage your classroom, but I feel like a required course in college fully focused on this topic would benefit future teachers. In the course, I would expect; readings of the books and articles on managing our classroom, observing different scenarios of misbehavior and how to handle them, learning effective ways of handling different responses from the children, etc....
