NR446 Simulation Prework Emergency Dept. Simulation Day #2 Clients: Janet Martin & Eugene Miller Instructions: Complete all sections of the prework and bring with you to simulation as your ticket-in. Prework must be handwritten. Failure to complete and bring prework to simulation will result in a Clinical Learning Contract and Unsatisfactory for the day, as well as your inability to participate in that simulation. This course requires 96 clinical hours, and each simulation day counts as 16 hours. Missing a single simulation could result in failure of the course due to inability to complete the required clinical hours. This prework should be your own original work.

Emergency Dept. Simulation: During this simulation you will care for two new clients in the emergency department. The objectives for this simulation are: 1. Students will communicate effectively using an iSBAR reporting method to ensure safe client care delivery 2. Prioritize the plan of care for multiple clients 3. Delegate appropriately and effectively using the five rights of delegation

Your prework consists of 2 documents: 1) Prioritization worksheet 2) Conflict Resolution worksheet

Client: Janet Martin J. M. is a 75 year old with a history of smoking, COPD, MI, HTN, hyperlipidemia, Type II DM, and asthma. Presents to the ED with c/o fever and chills for two days.

Client: Eugene Miller M.C. is a 72 year old male with a history of type II DM and osteoarthritis, he is presenting to the ED with R leg pain.

PRIORITIZATION WORKSHEET For each client, design a report that you will use in simulation. You will use this to get report, make notes, and organize your care. The elements of the document that must be included are:        

Basic Demographics (name, DOB, Allergies, etc) History Assessment findings Vitals Lab results Medications Timeline for the day Notes

This assignment can be handwritten or typed, and should be one page for each client (onesided or two-sided). It should be neat and functional. Fill in the data you have on each client (above). Bring FOUR copies to your scheduled simulation (two for each patient). Be prepared to present your report sheet and discuss what worked during debrief.
