Description

Source Evaluation Source Analysis Assignment For this assignment, your task is to evaluate the sources you found for your essay. This requires that you investigate the author and assess the source’s argument. Relevant course objective: recognize appropriate sources. Source citation: Cite your source using MLA style. About the Source: Write a brief paragraph explaining what this source is. ● ● ●

Briefly summarize the source’s main point or argument. What type of source is this (ex: magazine article/analysis, newspaper opinion-editorial or analysis, blog, etc.) How do you know? Why does this matter? Where was this piece published? What did you learn about the source based on the “About Us” or “Mission” page?

About the Author Write a brief paragraph explaining why you think the author(s) is or is not credible. Consider the following questions: Who is the author/who wrote this? What do you know about their background and expertise? What makes them qualified or unqualified to write about the topic? How do you know/how did you find out?

About the Information Write a brief paragraph explaining why you think the source is or is not well informed, well-reasoned, and accurate. Consider the following questions: Where did the author get their information? Are their sources of information credible or not? How do you know? Is the writer’s reasoning clear?

Overall Evaluation Would you use this source for your project? Why or why not?
