Writing assignment on Maggie Johnson character analysis...

Description

Week 4: Distance Assignments Exercise #1: Adaptation: I believe that Maggie Johnson’s role should be played by Jennifer Lawrance. I believe she would be a good actress for this particular role because she has played in lots of movies with a tough, emotional role and I think she would be perfect if this were a movie based off her performance in movies such as The Hunger Games series. I believe that Jimmie Johnson’s role should be played by Zac Efron. I believe he would be a good actor for this particular role because based off of his past films, he is able to pull off a good or evil character. In this story, when Jimmie starts to change and gets aggressive, it reminded me of how Efron played Ted Bundy in the Netflix film in 2019. He was able to pull off trying to act innocent and I think he would do a great job of portraying Jimmie if this were a film. I believe Pete’s role should be played by Liam Hemsworth. I believe he would be a good actor for this particular role because he has been in movies where he has been seen as the “hero” or was one of the main good guys. I also think after his history of romance in the Hunger Games series, he would pair really well with Lawrance for this film. Their love stories in both this story and the Hunger Games series don’t necessarily end well but I still think he would do a great job in this film based off of his acting skills in other popular movies.

Exercise #2: Adaptation: Song Choice: Everything I Wanted by Billie Eilish [Verse 1] Lyrics: I had a dream I got everything I wanted Not what you think And if I’m being honest It might’ve been a nightmare To anyone who might care Thought I could fly (Fly) So I stepped off the Golden, mm Nobody cried (Cried, cried, cried, cried) Nobody even noticed I saw them standing right there Kinda thought they might care (Might care, might care) I believe this song would be good to include on the soundtrack for this film because I think it would fit well in the background when Maggie dies. Pretty much all of Billie Eilish’s songs have a dark meaning to them and I feel like using this song would show the resemblance of the violence, dreams, hopes, and plans in Maggie’s life. After she dies, this song could be played while everyone she knows finds out about the death and everything she could have had in life would be shown and at the end of it, the movie would end with the screen going to black.

Exercise #3: Adaptation: I chose this image to represent the film as the movie poster because I really think it sets the tone of the story, how it is not a happy ending but that’s life and reality and it keeps moving no matter what. I think the train in this image is really appropriate since train’s are always moving non stop- which is how life is. This image also kind of looks like a typical gloomy day in New York City in the 1890’s and reflects the underlying darkness and realism of this story....
