Essay for English 1101P with proffesor Barker...

Description

English 1101P Elise Barker Mother at School “ Andale asi mero te queria ver!” would yell Ms. garcia as she walked into the classroom. Ms. garcia was the go to person when in need of help. She was in charge to help students whose main language was not english. Although she was like a translator, she would help out in any way possible. She was basically our Mother but at school. A mother that would yell at you if you were n9ot paying attention, goofing around, or getting bad grades. However she would also joke around with the students and even throw parties for special occasions. And just like a mother, everyone had much respect for her and be thankful to her for all her help in school. The mentor I chose to write about is Maria garcia. Ms. garcia helped me all throughout high school. And till this day I am very grateful for her and thankful for all the scoldings she would give me. She not only helped me realize that school is very important but also made sure that I wouldn't give up so easily and to do our best. I still laugh at the memorise where she would yell “ a trabajar ninos malcriados” when she would notice the group just goofing around or the times she would threaten to call our mothers saying how we were not behaving. Its funny how our parents new Ms. garcia as well. She was everyone's Family friend. You could see her at family parties so one was afraid of what she’d tell our parents knowing very well how we would behave at school. At school whenever we had an exam or quiz, she would get you out of clase to help if one needed a translated version or help in understanding the question

better. Since her class room was in the basement of the school, one would head down there to take the exams. She would check every students grades weekly and if she saw an F or D she would yell “ Hay nina pero porque tienes una F! “ or “de contado andabas con el novio” after talking she would send us to study right away. If we were in her classroom just chatting she would tell us that if we weren't doing anything to head back to class. If one were to talk back she’d yell “que dijiste!” Although the students were goofing around, we still knew when it was time to stop goofing around and studying. If it weren't for Ms. garcia, I probably wouldn't have been able to graduate on time, or even pass my classes with her extra help. Although she was just a translator and not an actual teacher, she would still do her best to help her students out and made sure that we would study. Just like my own Mother, I have much respect for her and much love for her as well. I am very grateful to have had her helped me out with my journey through high school....
