KIN 332 Exam III Review Sheet Special Populations Coronary Artery Disease  Low intensity endurance (what do they like to do?)  Frequency: 3-5 days a week  Intensity: 9-14 rpe, 40-75% MHR  Duration: progress to 20-30 minutes, extend warm up/cool down time  Resistance training: depends on blood pressure; avoid isometrics; keep weights low, reps higher. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)  3 or 4 out of 10 have Hypertension, 1 or 2 know it, ½ are undergoing treatment.  Keep blood pressure 130 mg/dl, HDL < 40 mg/dL  Prediabetes: Impaired Fasting Glucose > 100 mg/dL or impaired Glucose Tolerance >140 mg/dL on 2 separate occasions  Obesity: BMI > 30 or waist girth > 40 (men) > 35 (women)  Inactivity (30 minutes, 3 days a week for 3 months)  Age: > 45 in males and >55 in females  Negative Risk: High HDL Cholesterol levels: > 60 mg/dL

ACSM Initial Risk Stratification  Scoring +1 for positive, -1 for negative  Low risk: younger individuals who are asymptomatic and have no more than 1 risk factor  Moderate risk: Individuals who meet the threshold for two or more risk factors and are asymptomatic  High risk: Individuals with one or more signs and symptoms for cardiovascular disease, individuals with known cardiovascular disease, pulmonary, or metabolic disease...
