Description

1. ExcelNow! can be accessed from the Marshall Virtual Lab. To use the Marshall Virtual Lab you will need to install something called the ‘VMware Horizon Client’ on your Windows or Apple device. It is through this client that you will access the lab and desktops contained within it. To install VMware Horizon, follow the directions in USCMarshall - Virtual Lab Client Installation - Windows and MAC v2c.pdf

2. Click on VMware Horizon Client and login with your Marshall UserID and password. You will see the Marshall desktop. Double click on the vLab Desktop icon and a Windows desktop will open.

3. Click on the Windows folder icon to open up a folder

4. Click on “Computer”, then click on “temp (\\MSBFILE02)(Z:)”.This will reveal the “ExcelNow!” folder.

Open the folder and click open the folder with your User ID (philipro in the example shown here).

Then click on ExcelNow!

5. Wait for about 20 to 30 seconds for an Excel workbook to open. When a workbook opens, you will notice a tab in the menu bar that says ExcelNow!. Click on this tab and the ExcelNow! ribbon will appear. 6. On the ExcelNow! ribbon, click on the Create Quiz User Profile button. Enter your name and USC ID number in the dialog box.

7. Next, click on the “Quizzes” button on the ExcelNow! ribbon. This opens up a gateway to all the quizzes you can take in ExcelNow! (there are around 100 of them, although you are only required to do 30 of them). At the bottom of this list, you will see “USC Proficiency Course.” Click on that to see the list of the 30 quizzes you need to take. Note that you can take the quizzes in any order and as many times as you like and you do NOT have to do them all at once.

8. When you click on a quiz, you will see a spreadsheet with gray cells that you need to fill in with the appropriate formulas. Note: You must use formulas that will automatically change to the correct values if the data in the spreadsheet changes. 9. The ribbon at the top of a quiz will look like this:

    

Click on Open Associated Topic to open the Read and Practice sheet for this topic. Click on Watch Associated Video to open the video that explains this topic. Click on Grade Quiz to automatically grade your input. As an example, see the grading for the SUM, PRODUCT, AVERAGE quiz below. You can attempt and regrade the quiz as many times as you like. Click on the “Save Quiz and Record Grade” button to save your results and then click on Close.

Click on the Close This Quiz button on the ribbon to close this quiz and return to the original sheet you were on.

When you close a quiz, you will be asked if you want to save the changes you have made. Make sure to click “Yes.”

10. You do not have to work on all the quizzes at one time. So, whenever you are done taking or revising as many of the quizzes as you like, you are now ready to leave (make sure you saved the changes in the previous step). When you want to resume working on the quizzes, start from step 1 in this document. You can pick up from where you left off, skipping step 6. 11. When you are done working on all the quizzes, click the button “Create the Gradebook File” as shown in the screen shot below. Upload the Gradebook file to Blackboard. The link to do this is in the ExcelNow! Proficiency folder of the Blackboard site for your lecture....
