Experiment on Thermodynamic Systems
Objective: To verify the laws of thermodynamics in open and closed systems.

Annotations
This part of the experiment is using egg A.
The volume of the water decrease from 0.4 L to 0.28 L. It has evaporated during boiling because the lid is not tightly sealed. 0.4 Liters Amount of water before boiling the egg A.
0.28 Liters Amount of water after boiling the egg A 2nd Trial: Because of the increase in the temperature, the water volume rises.
Before boiling the water, the original volume of water is 0.8 liters.
After boiling the water, the volume increases at 1.0 liter.
1st trial:
The egg has a visible crack on its surface. It may be the result of the high heat while boiling.
Result after boiling egg A. 2nd trial: After boiling the egg A, it is observed that is has no crack, compared to trial 1.
Trial 1:
Yellow in color. Slightly warm. The egg is cooked. It can be observed that the egg has no moist (no liquid).
Boiled egg A. Trial 2:
The color is darker compared to first trial. Slightly warm. The egg is cooked, though it has a slight moist on the center part. Boiled egg B.
Trial 1:
The volume decreased from 0.4 L to 0.25 L. The volume decreased more than in egg A because the lid was open when it was boiling.
0.4 L Amount of water Before boiling the egg B.
0.25 L Amount of water after boiling the egg B. Trial 2:
The same amount of water is used on the 2nd trial. There is no increase or decrease of water volume. It is still 1.0 liter.
Trial 1:
The egg is cooked and the inside is wetter compared to the egg A.
Result after boiling the egg B. Trial 2: It is not completely cooked. It is moister, than trial 1, and egg B on the 2nd trial (with cover).
Trial 1:
The temperature of the water slightly rose after putting the egg in.
Temperature of water in egg B Trial 2: Same as the trial 1 for set-up B. The temperature of the water rises slightly as the observer puts the egg.
Trial 2: 1.) The temperature of the egg is still warm after submerging into the water.
2.There are no cracks on the surface of the egg.

Conclusion: After executing the experiment, we conclude that, the Egg A is in accordance of a closed system. The amount of matter in the system remains unchanged since the container has a lid and it is closed to prevent the steam to escape. As we observed after the egg was boiled; the egg yolk was slightly moist in the center same as the second trial. On the other hand, the Egg B is in accordance of an open system. Unlike the set-up in Egg A, this time the container has no cover which allows the exchange of energy and matter through the evaporation of water. Furthermore, the heat flows from the system to the surrounding which is why the Egg B absorbed lesser heat than the Egg A which also causes the yolk of Egg B uncooked than the yolk of Egg A.
