Description

Extra Credit: Mental Health Podcast Reflection - (6 points, due by 6/14) An important skill in today’s world, and in the field of abnormal psychology specifically, is the ability to consume information critically. Critical thinking and information consumption involves ongoing, active reflection on your thoughts and reactions to new information. 1) Select a podcast episode from the list below (preferably one with which you are unfamiliar). These podcasts regularly discuss issues relevant to the study of abnormal psychology, including different forms of psychological disorder (e.g., depression, OCD, anxiety) and different types of psychological treatment (e.g., cognitive therapy, mindfulness). 2) Complete Reflection Instructions: Listen to one episode of the selected podcast. Write at least 1 page, double-spaced) reflection. This is NOT a summary. You will not receive credit for assignments which merely summarize or re-phrase the content presented in the episodes. You may summarize parts of the episodes to provide context for your own thoughts, but I am grading you based on your REFLECTION. Reflection involves identifying your thoughts in reaction to the episode and evaluating what information is new, surprising, challenging, or different from your own perspective. Here are some questions that can guide your reflection. Your reflection can include responses to one or multiple question but you are not required to answer the questions. Do not address each of these prompts as an individual question. Instead, integrate them into a cohesive paper.    

What was the most important thing you learned from the podcast? If something surprised you, why did it surprise you? If something challenged one of your beliefs, what was that like? Why do you think it was challenging? Do you agree with the information presented? Disagree? Why?
