Gissel Rodriguez ENGL 101 January 17, 2021 Favorite Literature Experience Throughout my educational journey I have encountered many great books, stories and amazing authors. I have enjoyed fiction books since I was a little girl in kindergarten. I would often read books about princesses and mermaids, those were my favorite. I read books in both Spanish and English. Coming from a Meixan household my first language was Spanish later on I mastered English and I enjoy both greatly. In this paper I will introduce you to some of my favorite books/stories and authors. First, “Wonder” by R.J Palacio, this book has been one of my all time favorites. While reading this book at a younger age it would create many emotions such as pity and sorrow by the situation the character Auggie was going through. Auggie was born with a facial deformity and due to that situation he was homeschooled up until the end of fourth grade. His parents did not want to put him in the situation where he would get bullied due to his deformity. However, his life changed when he entered fifth grade at Beecher Prep. This book illustrated many real life situations and I learned a lot. This was one of the first books. I even had a connection with this book because in school the teachers would make a great impact on this student's life. These situations impacted me greatly because I always had the goal and dream to be able to make a change in life. The educational system itself along with the support we give to our students is a great start. In addition, “Speak” by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book showed deep pain, a story of true sorrow. The story of a young girl who faced the truth about being raped. Everyone at her

school disliked her because she was only seen as the girl who called the police while at a party. She was bullied and terrorized while no one knew why she did it, what the purpose of that call was. The demons this girl had to go through everyday with the shame and fear she faced without being able to speak up. This story was hurtful to read but also it showed deep emotions. It has been one of my ultimate favorites since the beginning of the book. I was hooked and I couldn't stop reading, something that only happened on rare occasions with me. I was able to fully analyze this book because I have read it a couple of times, which I have enjoyed because each time I re-read it I discover new things that I did not really pay attention to the previous time before that. Lastly, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs'' by Jacob Grimm and Wilhelm Grimm. This was my favorite childhood story to read as a little girl. This was my favourite childhood story because it illustrated the story of Snow White who was hated by her evil stepmother who was portrayed as an evil witch. She was hated due to her beauty which her stepmother lacked. As a young child and till this day I am told to not eat or drink things given from strangers due to safety reasons and that lesson was reinforced by the apple Snow White ate given by an old lady. These were just some of my favorite stories/ books and also authors....
