Duffy’s agenda is to show how gender is always shaped by society In Duffy’s feminine gospels, the idea that gender is always shaped by society is explored in the poems ‘Beautiful’ and ‘The woman who shopped’. She highlights the pressure put on women to look and act a certain way based on societal expectations. However, Loud demonstrates a woman breaking against gendered norms of being passive and quiet through her new found voice.
