TASK Select any organization (e.g. retailer, manufacturer, or voluntary organization) that you are familiar with, and complete the following tasks: Electronics repair shop, like a laptop, smartphone repair business 

Describe the role of management within the organisation in terms of P-O-L-C.

The main challenge faced by organizations and managers today is to innovatively solve business problems. The basic principles of management are guidelines using which managers can tackle business challenges. In order to understand the role of management in term of P.O.L.C, first of all we need to understand that what is P.O.L.C? P.O.L.C is a framework to help the managers respond to the challenge of creative problem solving; principles of management have long been categorized into the four major functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. Let’s see every phase separately with the prospective of Electronic repair shop. The values of management have been categorized into the four major functions of planning, organizing, leading, and governing popularly known as the P-O-L-C framework.

Planning: 2

In planning the most significant function of management that involves setting objectives and determining a course of action for achieving that objective. In computer repair business first we define what’s our goal and mission of our entire organization, which is customer satisfaction and occupied market. Then we must plan what is the budget and cost-profit margin of the product so that we can order those products which have highest profit margin (like laptop batteries, chargers, cables, and power cables etc.).

Organizing: When manager has created the work plan, the next segment in management phase is to organize the persons and resources necessary to carry out the plan. We organizing our entire business in that sense we have minimum expenditure and in limited period of time. We need to organize the structure of or computer repair business like what will be our working hours, the working hours must be those during which market continue demanding. The location of starting the business matter because the customer concerns and potential do matter. Location also matter because if we are sitting were our product and services are needed and the sales will be truncated We organize the structure of employees in particular job involves how best to design individual jobs so as to most effectively utilize human resources.

Leading: Organizations as they grow advance complex structures with an accumulative need for co-ordination and control. The main leading role of our organization is Head Manger who will handle and manage such situations like, leadership is necessary to inspire people to collaborate towards a common goal and create a situation for collective response. Leading involves social and informal source of impact to inspire others. The Head manager must be motivation for other employees and he will good in communication.

Controlling: In controlling we measure performance against goals, plans and helping correct deviances from standards. We must control operations, compliance with business policies and other directing policies including many other activities with in our organization.

TASK 2 For your chosen organisation, describe the following: a. The role of the human resources/personnel department. In our organization, very few human resources department are initiate in electronic repair organizations. To reduce the manual workload of administrative activities like laptop repairs, batteries and other services which customer will go and check-in different market organizations automate these process by make a human resources management system. In our electronic repair business the role of HR is to manage staff, starting policies relief, benefit, and training of staff. A strategic mind –set of HR professionals a key skill as well. A person with a planned mind-set can plan far in advance and look at developments that could affect the surroundings in which the business is operating. Too often, managers focus on their own area and not enough on the business as a whole. The strategic HR professional is able to not only work within his or her area but also understand how HR fits into the bigger picture of the business. b. Tools and techniques used to recruit staff. Techniques: Business recruiters are constantly looking for new tools and techniques that will help to get best talent for competition in market. The tools which we use in our organization to recruit staff are following: 

Advertising

Place job in highly circular newspaper, magazine and journals alerts a broad section of job opening. But the disadvantage of advertising a job, business could be swamped by applications and resumes from unqualified people then it is difficult to find the best candidate. 

Referrals

Referrals are the best and focused way to get an employee then public advertising. Referrals of experience candidate can come from other people in specific domain from their social circle. 

Job Fairs

Job fairs are best way for employers to make contact with a huge number of probable employees in a short period. An employer can set up a stand at a job fair for a day at little expenditure and have people present to answer questions and take resumes. TOOLS: The best recruitment tools which we need for our entire organization are following:



Application Tracking System:

An ATS is a recruitment tools which especially build to help HR professionals and faster to improve the hiring process. 

Video Interviewing Software: 4

A Video Interviewing Software (VIS) is best recruitment tools used to interview your employee via online and anywhere around the world easily.

c. Tools and techniques used to appraise employees. We will be discussing the important performance appraisal tools and techniques in detail given below: Tools: 

Ranking Method: In ranking method, we are simply putting the employees in a rank system. In this method, the ranking of employee in a work group is done according to another employee. Employees are ranked according to their performance level and it’s easier to rank the employee on best place.



Critical Incident Techniques: By use this method, the manager prepare list of statements of very effective and inactive behavior of employee. The managers of our organization maintain logs of each employee where he records the rating of employee performance. At the end he will use these recorded logs for evaluation of employee performance.

Techniques: 

Management by Objectives (MBO): The purpose of MBO is appraisal of employee where managers and employee together identify, plan, organize and communicate objective to focus during a specific appraisal period. In our organization, both managers and employee discuss on a project. They discuss objective and timeline of project and then after completing the project they will give feedback.



Psychological Appraisal: In this method, we focused on analyzing the future performance of employee’s rather than past work. Qualified psychologist conduct multiple test of employee’s like in-depth interviews, physiological interviews, decision test and so on.

d. Techniques used resolve conflict within the organisation. When we get a group of people together day by day, conflict is unavoidable. In organization workplace conflict can occur in many ways like between two employees, among any team or between supervisor and manager. There are following techniques which used to resolve conflict within the organization. 

Talk Together:

First we set up a time and location so we can talk for a stretched span without outdoor interludes. When we do meet, each person must have suitable time to say what he or she has faith in the other party needs to hear. Do not let any separate dominate the conversation or control the topic. Each person should talk about the deviations and how he or she feels about the situation. 5



Listen carefully.

It is important to give your full attention to the person who is speaking. Do not interpose the other person 

Be quick to forgive.

Every clash needs a clear determination that acknowledges hurt feelings and tries to find a solution that begins to mend them.

TASK 3 a. Describe the difference between Management and Leadership in your chosen organisation. Leadership and Management is not same thing but they are linked with each other. In our organization, Electronics repair shop the management and leadership have different duties. MANAGEMENT:   

Management give direction of our business. Management tell the people in organization what to do.
