Tutorial 3 – Worksheet FREN 106 Tutorial Group Member Names

Submission Details Worksheets need to be submitted by one person on behalf of your whole group within 30 minutes after the end of the tutorial. Be sure that all your names are on it and save a copy for your records. Remember, the objective of the tutorial is to chat openly with one another using the target vocabulary and grammar. Everyone is a beginner, so go ahead and jump in using your microphone; I encourage you to turn your camera on too for a more authentic tutorial experience! Often, we feel more comfortable chatting and it can be more inviting to actually see the person with whom we are speaking.

Netiquette Reminder Distracting, disruptive, and disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated in FREN 106. Students not adhering to FREN 106 netiquette guidelines will be firstly be given a warning and secondly be removed from the tutorial session and receive a grade of 0.

Instructions Part A Let’s Chat: Faisons connaissance: Où aller et quoi faire Choose a university where you would like to study French. Maybe it’s la Sorbonne in Paris or maybe it’s the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. Imagine that you and your friends have a Saturday free to explore the city in which the university is located. You might look at a map or a website for ideas. As a tutorial group, make a list of at least 6 interesting places to visit in your university city/town (for example, le stade Olympique de Paris). 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Next, negotiate with your friends to select which 3 out of the 6 activities that you will all enjoy and why. You can only narrow down your selections to 3, so choose wisely! Example: Student 1: On fait du sport? Student 2: D’accord, allons à la piscine municipale et ensuite au stade Olympique de Paris. 1.

Part B Let’s Share: Un/une athlète ou artiste célèbre Take turns reading your paragraph on your favorite athlete or artist you have prepared for this tutorial. As each student reads, take notes and fill in the chart below. Each member of the tutorial group should take a turn taking notes and filling in the chart below as another student reads (e.g. Adam takes notes on Kathy’s athlete, Kathy takes notes on Lisa’s athlete, Lisa takes notes on John’s athlete, etc.) Take turns asking specific questions based on what they have just explained about their favourite athlete or artist, as well as specific questions for which you would like clarification. You may ask why your classmate chose that specific person, for example. Your TA will be visiting to ask you questions as well!
