PROJECT: Engine dyno and Engine Tuning for Performance Size: 2-3 Team Budget: $5,000 Project Description The objective of the project is to build an Engine dyno to test and tune the Yamaha-YZF-R3 engine. The expectation is to build the dyno and wire the engine by Christmas break and focus on tuning during the Spring semester. Key Project Goals: •

Learn and understand overall engine tuning o Understand how engines work o Understand relationship between power, torque, and engine RPM o Improve power output and fuel efficiency Learn about engine wiring and control system Learn about engine dynamics and thermodynamics Learn about engine maintenance and rebuild Develop timeline and project management skills o Plan ahead to meet project deadlines while achieving good quality work Learn how to work in a team environment and develop communication skills
