Description

Misty Rogers Gang Leader C HW 1. J.T did not show C-Note an ounce of respect, and C-Note did the same which unfortunately led to his beating. If J.T would have been a little more respectful it probably wouldn’t have happened, but as I learned in Chapter 3, it was more of a power move, or an authority thing for J.T. He needed to make sure everyone saw he was in control and not C-Note. 2. To the gang members, getting a job meant going out and working a medial pay position, and to them, working was making money off of selling drugs. 3. Manifest- To get the gang members out and involved in politics to better their future in the city. Latent- To convince them all to vote for who the higher ups want to vote for, the politicians that are in close with J.T. 4. The gang works are the police and the judge and this is seen in the incident with BooBoo and the storekeeper. A member of the gang, Price, was able to calm down BooBoo from assaulting/murdering someone, and on top of that, the gang mediated the situation by making the deal about the soda and beer. The gang clearly makes up the rules and “laws” in the community as well as the “sentences” for punishment. I do support J. T’s assertion that the gang is the community, even though I don’t agree with their actions, everyone seems to follow what they say, obey their rules, and go to them for help. 5. Sudhir learned that both sides of Robert Taylor were run down as well as dangerous for teenagers and adults. Kids and adults looking to cross from A to B could be robbed, or even just stopped to be searched because they weren’t trusted. Kids in one side of town had a dedicated hangout spot, while kids on the other side had poor converted apartments. 6. I think that Autry is just gaming the system. He doesn’t seem sincere or honest in any of his actions, while he has intentions to be better, I think he has a lot of skeletons in his closet that will come out at some point. How mad J.T got when he saw Sudhir with him made me think that possibly Autry is danger and J.T. knows some stuff he has not told Sudhir yet. 7. The cons to me were that at any moment someone could pull a gun out and cause a lot of deaths, including Sudhir. Also, the victims were never talked about, it was only about the money and how the leaders get compensated for what they “lost”. The only pro was the fact there was no violence, they came to a deal about making more money on the other’s property. 8. If I were the major of Chicago, I would definitely pull the city officials out of the mix, because the gang members are going to do whatever they feel is needed. But the police officers and preacher should not be involved, if it ever came to light, no one in Chicago would ever trust the police department or church again....
