Ambedkar University Delhi Man and woman are a peerless pair; being supplementary to one another; each helps the other, so that without the one, the existence of the other cannot be conceived and, therefore, it follows that anything that impairs the status of either of them will involve the equal ruin of them both. – Mahatma Gandhi Abstract With the help of the lived experience in a tribal village with tribal women I am able to make some level of understanding in gender and development field, because this experience had some significance value to make my orientation in the field of 'Gender' and 'Development'. When I observe the relationship between two more closely in the field both terms were looking related with each other—on the other aspect of development also such as human development—and interconnected in the rural space meanwhile most of the development schemes are women centered and trying to shift the focus of the mainstream development on a particular gender. Though it is a changeful events all together in the world of development where patriarchy playing important role. With the help of eight months experience with women and the relationships of women with men and the society I am sharing my understanding on gender and some thoughts and insights thorough this article. Key Words: Tribal, Gender, Development, Rural, Patriarchy Introduction The Major development agencies such as United Nations agencies, declared the proper time periods of development and its approaches to understand and learn with the help of the inaccuracies of earlier strategies and approaches. UN declared the first decade of development started from 1961-1970s and the second decades of the development also known as the women's decade started from 1971 and Gender and Development came into account in early 1980s in the form of critique or the expansion of Women in Development (WID) approach gender is a very trendy term that time, development theorists, practitioner, and commentators were happy to use this term in development. With the help of researches on women and policy interventions during the women decades in development facilitated to the policy makers to introduce anti-discriminatory lows, and the most of the government in the world now have the government structures or low for advancement of women. But still women are marginalized (socio- economic), and poor, unequal, deprived and less productive in the mainstream development society.
