General Announcement about PStat 122 -- Winter Quarter 2022 I. Lectures and Professor’s Office Hours: The lectures are scheduled to be on Mon. and Wed. 12:30-1:45 starting from Jan.3, 2022. The lectures will be on Zoom, at least for the first 2 weeks, and the link to use is: https://ucsb.zoom.us/j/84689911136 (Passcode: 034144) After the first 2 weeks, starting from Jan. 19, 2022, we expect the classes to be held in person in Psychology Room 1924 My office hrs will be on Zoom EVERY Tuesday 1:30pm – 3:00pm PST throughout the quarter. II.Information about the Course: The Textbook for this course is “Design and Analysis of Experiments, 10th Edition” by Douglas Montgomery, However, the 9th Edition of this book which I understand is available for free online, is just as good. I will start by reviewing Chapters 1-2 of this Textbook, topics which are usually covered in your PStat 120B. We will then go over material from Chapters 3- 7 of this text, with an occasional foray into other parts of the book. You will learn quickly that I do not follow the book religiously, although the lectures cover the same topics -- may be even a bit more. Therefore, your attending the lectures and taking good notes of your own (to which you have access during the exams), is important for a good grade. Typically I do not post any lectures or notes. There will be weekly HWs, about 6-8 in all. The HWs are to be submitted on GauchoSpace. Scores are posted on GS by your TA, soon after. Check to be sure they have been posted correctly. Midterm is during the class on Wednesday, February 9, and the Final Exam has been scheduled for March 15, Tuesday, 12:00 – 3:00pm. Exams are open book and open notes (the class notes that you take from my lectures). Final grade gives 30% weight on the HWs, 30% on the Midterm, and 40% on the Final exam. III.TA Sections and Office Hours: Here is the contact information and office hours for your TAs—which will be updated on GS as needed.
