Description

Elvis Alvarado Professor Kramer Rhetoric 102 goPuff This advertisement is for a rather new company called goPuff. GoPuff delivers foods and other goods that can be found in supermarkets and convenience stores. The sign is advertising its speedy delivery. The sign seems to be promising that food and or snacks can be delivered at any time as long as one can wait thirty minutes. The location helps to assure this promise because it is located right in Kenmore square where there are tons of food choices in the immediate and surrounding areas. The location leads viewers to think that they will have a lot of options to pick from. The comforting idea of having options is supplemented by a picture of a phone with consumable items on the screen and drawings of different kinds of snacks that are behind the letters. Lastly, the promise of delivery at any time desired and a waiting time of thirty minutes is amplified by the large capital letters that stick out. The intended audience for goPuff is most likely college students who live in a dormitory. Not only is the advertisement located on a college campus but it also uses the stereotype that college kids are always hungry and more likely to have something delivered to them than go out. But furthermore this advertisement plays into a bigger stereotype of people being too busy all the time. The idea behind the app is that someone else can do your shopping for you and you can buy your groceries on the phone. The advertisement relies on the assumption that people are glued to their phones and are too busy to do simple things. Overall, this sign doesn’t dramatically alter public space but it makes garbage cans much easier to look at makes the area more vibrant....
