John Doerr’s Ted Talk defines the secret to success through goal setting. He quotes his former manager Andy Grove, who said “It’s not about what you know, but execution is what matters the most.” He goes further into Grove’s OKR system, or Objectives and Key results. Objectives stand for “what” is being accomplished, and Key results are “how” the objective will be accomplished. Although this is a simple and fool proof system, Doerr explains that simply following this will most likely lack the satisfaction of success. He goes on to explain that the secret to success is to understand our purpose, our “why.” One goal that I have for this semester is to develop my test taking skills in ATI. I have tested and failed below the passing score of level 2 time and time again, and this stands as my why to prove to myself that I am capable of achieving a successful passing score in all my proctored exams.
