Unit 5 for week 5...

Description

At the beginning of the year I had set a goal to save $2000.00 towards am entertainment center, As I progressed it I was halfway towards my goal when an unexpected expense arose it was then funds had to be allocated to cover that expense it was then I had failed at my goal of saving enough to purchase the entertainment center.

When I first joined the work force, I was lacking the much needed skills for the business arena. I thought I would pick it up along the way, but after about two years in the field, I realized I needed to make some changes if I wanted to be able to progress in my career. That is when I decided to pursue a certification in Business communication .This type of certification took three months to complete, I looked at the courses I needed to take and created a detailed schedule. Thanks to the small goals I had set along the way and the schedule I had created, I was able to get my certification in the three months.

These are my three goals the first short term goal is to get a promotion secondly my midterm goal is to pay off my loan and lastly my long term goal is the complete my degree.

The purpose of effective goal setting is to achieve your aspiration in life whether big or small in a successful focused and decisive manner. Effective goal setting is tried and true method for achieving success and accomplishment in life. Before beginning the process of setting goals, know that you deserve success and that it is achievable for anyone who puts his/her mind to it.There are five characteristics of good goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable , Realistic and Time Oriented. To begin with when setting a goal, be specific about what you want to accomplish. Think about this as the mission statement for the goals you want to achieve. Secondly, in order for your goal to be measurable there has to be a direct or indirect indicator of what success for a particular goal will look like. Thirdly the next step is achievable this focuses on how important a goal is to you and what you can do to make it attainable and may require developing new skills and changing attitudes. Think about, how to accomplish the goal, if you have the necessary tools need to complete the goal, and if not, consider what it would take to accomplish them. Moreover the next characteristic of good goals is realistic. Realistic refers to focusing on something that makes sense with larger goals in mind. For example, if the goal is to launch a new program or service, it should be something that’s in alignment with the overall business/department objectives, Lastly Time oriented is the last characteristic of good goal setting. Anyone can set goals, but if it lacks realistic timing, chances are you’re not going to succeed. Providing a target date for deliverables is imperative. Ask specific questions about the goal and meeting deadlines and what can be accomplished within that time period. If the targeted goal will take six months to complete, it’s useful to define what should be achieved half-way through the process. Providing time constraints also creates a sense of urgency. https://www.breval.co.in/what-are-smart-goals/ https://www.headfirst.com/headfirst-career-development-resources/hf-smart-goals-worksheet/...
