Description

At first, I thought that this was an interesting way to market a new car. I thought it was interesting because I had never thought that a car company would use virtual reality to accomplish their marketing. Regardless, I think that it is a very effective way to reach their potential consumers. This is because the world we live in is all about finding new ways to advertise things through technology. I think Volvo made a very smart decision to use virtual reality for its advertising. This decision allows the consumer to experience the new car(s) before they actually go and test drive the car(s) themselves. It also makes the experience new and exciting. It does this by using virtual reality in a way that no one, in the past, would have thought of. However, this marketing strategy does not only affect Volvo. It also affects Google. By combining the two technologies, the car and the virtual reality, Google is also getting its product advertised. This is accomplished because in order for the consumer to have the virtual reality for the Volvo car(s), they must purchase one of Google’s cardboard virtual reality sets. Overall, I think that combining these two technologies was a smart marketing move made by both companies.
