“Great Seal of the Philippines”
Introduction: This is the official Great Seal of the Philippines. The current design pursuant to Commonwealth Act No. 731 was approved by the Congress of the Philippines on July 3, 1946. It was designed by Captain Galo B. Ocampo, Secretary of the Philippine Heraldry Committee.
Interpretation of the Symbol: The Great Seal shall be circular in shape, with the same specifications as the national Coat of Arms, with a double marginal circle around the arms written with the official name of the Philippines in Filipino. Although the color of the arms is not required, tincture representation must be employed. The Philippines' national motto must also appear on the Great Seal. All commissions signed by the President, as well as such other official documents and papers of the Republic of the Philippines as may be provided by law or as may be required by tradition and usage, shall bear the Great Seal. The Great Seal will be kept by the President.
